News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that Joseph H. Hogsett will join the firm effective August 1, 2014 as a partner in the litigation practice group, concentrating on internal investigations and corporate audits.

Since 2010, Hogsett has been the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana where he serves as the legal representative of the United States Government for both civil lawsuits and criminal prosecutions. His resignation is effective July 31.

“Joe is an extremely accomplished attorney and we are thrilled to have him join our firm where his tremendous talents will be utilized to assist our clients,” said Jeffrey R. Gaither, managing partner, Bose McKinney & Evans.

As U.S. Attorney, Hogsett's office broke records in recent years for the most criminals charged and sentenced. In addition, the Southern District of Indiana led the nation in the average sentence length for convicted felons.

“I am pleased to join the practice of Bose McKinney & Evans, a firm that I have always respected and whose reputation for excellence in Indiana is well known,” said Hogsett. “Perhaps most importantly, I have been thoroughly impressed by this firm's long history of active engagement in communities statewide.”

Born and raised in Rushville, Hogsett graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science with honors from Indiana University in 1978, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa. He was President of the Indiana University Student Foundation and received the Elvis J. Stahr Outstanding Senior Award. Hogsett graduated from the Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington in 1981.

Hogsett also has obtained graduate degrees in English (Butler University, 1987), theological studies (Christian Theological Seminary, 1999) and history (Indiana University, 2007). Hogsett was appointed Indiana’s 57th Secretary of State in 1988 and was subsequently elected to a full four-year term in November 1990. Hogsett has spent 21 years in the private practice of law and is married with three children.

Active in the legal community, Hogsett is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Seventh Circuit Bar Association.
