$8 Million Apartment Renovation Complete

Officials will mark the completion Monday of a nearly $8 million renovation of a Dearborn County apartment complex. The upgrades to Lawrenceburg Village Apartments used federal tax credits to provide dozens of homes for low-income seniors and families.

WHAT: Ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate the completion of the $7.8 million renovation of Lawrenceburg Village Apartments

DETAILS: Constructed in 1979, Lawrenceburg Village Apartments have undergone a complete $7.8 million renovation using federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits.

The 75 homes for low-income seniors and families have undergone complete rehabilitations from new siding and windows, to updated kitchens and bathrooms and additional outside storage. The community has 20 one-bedroom apartments for seniors, 40 two-bedroom units and 15 three-bedroom units for families among 11 buildings. The one-bedroom apartments were expanded.

The resident community building was expanded to include an additional office for a new, on-site social services coordinator, a learning lab and technology center, community room, resident laundry room and kitchenette. Exterior improvements include a new picnic area with a gazebo, new and renovated playgrounds, walking paths, a bus shelter and bike racks.

Project partners are: Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, City Real Estate Advisors, JP Morgan Chase, Resident Resources Network, Berardi + Partners, Inc. and Wallick Communities.
