News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Electrical Engineering Technology will be offered at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast beginning Fall 2014. Initially offered at just the South Bend and Indianapolis campuses, Electrical Engineering Technology will now be offered at campuses in Fort Wayne, Anderson, Bloomington, Valparaiso, and Terre Haute.

Ivy Tech Northeast will offer an associate of science degree in the program, which is four semesters, or 60 credit hours, of study.

The new program will prepare students for careers including

-Computing

-Networking

-Robotics

-Biomedical

-Energy management

-Transportation

Graduates from this program will be able to work with engineers and technicians to implement electronic designs and perform engineering tasks including data work and electronic systems work. The degree will ready graduates for positions that local industries are looking to fill, says Andy Bell, who will chair the new program.

“The Electrical Engineering Technology degree is a nationally recognized program,” Bell says. “I have been involved in electronics for 40 years and have seen many changes. I am still excited about electronics and enjoy seeing all students learn about it. They become initiated into a unique group of people who develop an understanding and appreciation for the invisible subatomic particle, the electron.”
