Indianapolis-based Dow AgroSciences LLC has received approval for a herbicide in a key global market. The Chinese registration is the company's first involving Arylex. The company believes it will be cleared to enter more markets this year. May 13, 2014

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), announced the company has received Chinese registration of Arylex active. This is the first registration of this low-use rate herbicide, which is an innovative weed resistance management tool from a novel area of chemistry. It will provide a welcome solution for managing hard-to-control broadleaf weeds with utility in multiple crops. Specifically, the company received the Chinese registration of Quelex锐超麦 herbicide, a combination of Arylex plus florasulam for use in cereals.

“The introduction of our new herbicide with Arylex will strengthen Dow AgroSciences' leadership position in the cereal herbicide segment. Our customers will benefit from this innovation to help protect their cereal crops which are important to feeding a hungry world,” said Pierre Flye Sainte Marie, Global Leader, EMEA and Asia Pacific, Dow AgroSciences.

The Chinese registration is the first of many expected by the company. Continued registrations of products with Arylex are anticipated in 2014 and beyond in all major cereal herbicide markets including Canada, where the regulatory process is nearing completion, as well as in Australia, the United States and most European countries.
