The Gary/Chicago International Airport has launched its search for an airport manager. Chicago-based Aviation Facilities Company Inc., which has entered into an agreement to operate the airport, is leading the process.

Gary, Ind. — The Gary/Chicago International Airport has issued a Request for Proposals for providing landscaping services for the 2014 season as well as announced it is seeking to hire several new individuals including the top two positions of Airport Manager and Assistant Manager.

The website currently features two job postings; one for an Airport Manager and one for an Assistant Airport Manager. Deadline for applying for those jobs is May 30, 2014. The Airport is also in immediate need of a Maintenance Manager and will soon announce other new positions it seeks to fill and post those job descriptions on its website.

There is also a request for proposals for a lawn care company on the Airport website and social media sites. The deadline for proposals is May 16, 2014.

Employment, service contracts and materials supply opportunities related to the management and development of the Gary/Chicago International Airport and associated projects are currently being evaluated. As other opportunities develop, the Airport will post the listings on its website (www.GaryChicagoAirport.com). There will be separate links for business and individual opportunities. Also, there will be a form to sign-up for a database that will notify enrollees of new opportunities at the Airport.

The Airport has social media sites that can be accessed thru the Airport website homepage. Business and individual opportunities will be updated on these sites. The Airport has two Facebook Fan Pages (www.facebook.com/gciairport and www.facebook.com/gcia.gyy), a Twitter profile (www.twitter.com/GaryChiAirport), a LinkedIn Profile (www.linkedin.com/in/gciairport), and two YouTube channels (www.youtube.com/user/GaryChicagoAirport and www.youtube.com/takingoffwithgcia).

On January 27, 2014, the Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority unanimously approved development and management agreements with AFCO/AvPORTS to help turnaround the economic landscape of the airport, the City of Gary and Northwest Indiana.

The Gary/Chicago International Airport is less than 30 minutes from the heart of the tri-state region – Chicago. The airport is directly connected to Chicago's transportation network through freight, interstate and mass-transit and has close proximity to multiple Lake Michigan ports.
