The Indiana Commission for Higher Education is now expected to vote later this month on $2 million in state funding for the planned Indiana University School of Medicine campus in downtown Evansville. The group was slated to decide the matter and several others Thursday, but did not have enough members present to take action. The next meeting is set for May 19th and the approval would push the Medicine Multi-Institutional Academic Health Science and Research Center project forward.

Last month, the Indiana University Board of Trustees selected a downtown Evansville site for the campus, which will include a five-story tower.

Construction could begin this year and is set to be complete in 2017.

The $2 million in funding will go toward planning costs.
