The Indiana Supreme Court is slated to hear oral arguments in September regarding the constitutionality of the state's right-to-work law. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report a lower court judge struck it down last year on the grounds that some provisions violate the constitution. Attorney General Greg Zoeller has appealed the ruling, saying the law does not impose unlawful demands on unions and “gives employees in Indiana the choice whether to join a union (or otherwise pay dues) – a choice that is specifically authorized by federal law.”

The Lake Superior Court ruling is on hold until a decision is rendered.

The courts are expected to rule on the case early next year after oral arguments are complete.
