News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP) will host its annual Community Breakfast on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. at the JW Marriott Downtown. Dr. Eric Belsky, managing director of the Joint Center and a Lecturer in Urban Planning and Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, will serve as the keynote speaker. The event is jointly sponsored by the Lilly Endowment Inc. and State Farm.

The INHP Community Breakfast is a celebration of Indianapolis individuals and families who successfully become and remain long-term, successful homeowners. The event raises awareness of important housing issues facing Indianapolis residents, neighborhoods and communities. Nearly 500 attendees are expected at this year's event. Attendees include hundreds of leaders from local area businesses, financial institutions, civic organizations, government agencies and philanthropic groups. Tickets are available for sale at www.inhp.org.

“We are very grateful to have the continued support of State Farm and the Endowment as joint event sponsors and more importantly, as long-term partners that share INHP's commitment to strengthening the community,” said Moira Carlstedt, president of INHP. “Through the Community Breakfast, we aim to highlight the impact homeownership has on families and neighborhoods by celebrating the successes of our clients and through a discussion on national and local housing issues led by this year's keynote speaker, Dr. Belsky.”

Dr. Belsky has extensive experience conducting research on housing markets, housing finance and housing policy. Prior to his Harvard appointments, Dr. Belsky led the Housing Finance and Credit Analysis Group at Price Waterhouse LLP. He has also held the positions of Director of Housing Finance Research at Fannie Mae, Senior Economist at the National Association of Home Builders, and Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Belsky currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Housing Research and Housing Policy Debate, the board of the Opportunity Finance Network, the Affordable Housing Advisory Council of Fannie Mae, and the National Advisory Council of CredAbility. In 2001 and 2002, Dr. Belsky also served as Research Director for the bipartisan Millennial Housing Commission established by the Congress of the United States.

“2014 is the seventh year State Farm has co-sponsored INHP's Community Breakfast event,” said David Champ, State Farm's vice president of agency. “This important sponsorship is just one of the many ways we partner with INHP and support affordable housing, homeownership, community revitalization and economic development in the Indianapolis region. We're proud to be part of this momentous celebration again.”
