South Bend leaders say they “hope to find a better fit” for a Chicago businessman who wanted to turn the former college football hall of fame site into an experiential marketing hub. The South Bend Tribune reports he offered $1.5 million for the hall. The city's redevelopment commission has voted to move forward with plans to turn the building into a culinary school. The plan from the owner of a design and production company involved converting the site into a place where companies could show their new items to customers.

The South Bend Redevelopment Commission has approved an exclusivity agreement with Ivy Tech Community College allowing six months to study the feasibility of the project. Plans for the school include a hydroponics area and aquaculture tanks.
