Cummins Promotes Executive Director to VP
Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) has named Dana Vogt vice president of Manufacturing – Heavy Duty, Mid-Range, and Light Duty Diesel. It is part of a series of vice president appointments announced by the company this month. Earlier this month, Cummins named Mark Smith VP of investor relations and Jason MacLean VP of its Power Generation Business.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (April 17, 2014) – Today, Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) promoted Dana Vogt to Vice President – Manufacturing – Heavy Duty, Mid-Range, and Light Duty Diesel. In this new role, Vogt will also be an officer of the company.

Dana has held various roles over the course of his career and in each of these capacities, he has made our Company stronger and his work has benefitted thousands of people across the globe.”
In his new role, Vogt will have global responsibility for all manufacturing plants, Supply Chain design and Global Enterprise Quality.
Most recently, Vogt served as Executive Director – Enterprise Quality and Joint Venture Supply Chain and Manufacturing. In that role, he provided operational direction for all HD, MR and LD Joint Ventures. He also served as the Leader for Quality Enterprise work and Chief of Staff for the HMLD organization led by Dave Crompton.
Vogt has held a number of roles at Cummins over the course of his career including Production Manager, Plant Quality Manager, Black Belt, Master Black Belt, Plant Manager at Jamestown Engine Plant, General Manager – Heavy Duty Operations and Executive Director – Global Supply Chain CTT.
As Plant Manager at Jamestown and General Manager – Heavy Duty Operations, Vogt led this area of the business during one of the most significant growth periods in its history. As the Executive Director for Global Supply Chain in CTT, Vogt led the delivery improvement transformation that allowed reduction of past due orders to near zero.
Vogt was among the first group of Cummins Six Sigma Black Belts in 1999 where he distinguished himself by completing seven projects with combined savings in excess of $9 million. In 2001, Vogt also became one of the Company’s first Master Black Belts, helping to launch the Six Sigma cultural change revolution within Cummins.
Vogt earned a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University. In 2005 he received the J. Irwin Miller Leadership award and in 2006 Vogt was awarded the Cummins Safety Executive Award. He also is a graduate of Cummins’ Executive Development program.
Vogt and his wife, who reside in Columbus, Ind., also have two grown daughters.
