A ceremony this afternoon will welcome the first ships of the international season to the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor. Officials report more cargo was handled last year at the Lake Michigan port than any year since 2006. Shipping tonnage at all three of Indiana's ports also increased. A report released in January states that 8.3 million tons of cargo was handled in 2013, which was also the highest total since 2006.
