There is a new president of Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. in Lafayette. Toshiaki Tamegai succeeds Masaki Okawara, who has been promoted to corporate senior vice president of Japan-based parent company Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. April 11, 2014

LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Subaru of Indiana Automotive's (SIA) parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries, Ltd. (FHI), has announced that SIA's current President and CEO, Mr. Masaki Okawara has returned to Japan to become the Chief General Manager of Subaru Manufacturing Division and Subaru's Gunma Plant. Mr. Okawara was also promoted to Corporate Senior Vice President of FHI.

SIA is proud to welcome a new President and CEO, Mr. Toshiaki Tamegai, who was recently promoted to Corporate Vice President for FHI. Mr. Tamegai joined FHI as an engineer in 1983. From 1989 to 1993, he was assigned to SIA as an engineer in Manufacturing Engineering and was one of the startup members of SIA.

After he returned to FHI in 1993 and spent over nine years working as an engineer in First Manufacturing Division, Mr. Tamegai was assigned to SIA for the second time as the Senior Manager of Manufacturing Engineering in 2002.

Following his second assignment to SIA, Mr. Tamegai returned to Japan and has had several positions in FHI over the past nine years, including: General Manager, First Manufacturing Division; Production Engineering General Manager, First Manufacturing Engineering Division; General Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Division; and Senior General Manager, Subaru Manufacturing Division.

Under Mr. Tamegai's direction, SIA Associates will work to continue the excellent quality ratings for the Subaru Legacy and Outback while maintaining SIA's industry leadership in workplace safety and environmental stewardship. In addition, SIA will be preparing for the start of Subaru Impreza production in 2016.
