McRobbie Favors Downtown Evansville Med School SitePosted: Updated:
Indiana University President Michael McRobbie is recommending a downtown Evansville site for a new medical school and research campus. The board of trustees is slated to vote on the potential location early this afternoon during a meeting in Bloomington. Four locations are being considered for the site. Along with programs from the IU School of Medicine, the University of Southern Indiana, University of Evansville and Ivy Tech Community College will have a presence at the new operation.
The Courier & Press reports the downtown site endorsed by McRobbie has an estimated price tag of $69.5 million, with the city offering incentives of $35 million.
Tennessee-based Skanska HealthRealty is the developer of proposed campus.
