Bobbette Snyder has led the organization for more than two decades. The LAMC board of directors says a successor is expected to be announced “in the near future.”

ANDERSON, Ind. – After more than 22 years at the helm of Madison County's incubator for community leaders, Bobbette Snyder announced that effective June 30, 2014 she will retire as executive director of The Leadership Academy of Madison County (LAMC).
While she may not be at LAMC's helm, Snyder stressed that she will remain an active member of the organization.
“Leadership Academy is singular – there is no other organization like it in the region,” said Snyder. “So many notable leaders have gone through the program and effected positive change within the community. Seeing the changes that LAMC has been able to realize, not only in the participants, but also throughout the county, has been gratifying and I’m excited to see how it continues to evolve and grow.”
Started in 1981 as a lecture series, LAMC has evolved to become a community think tank and talent incubator, counting Chuck Staley, CEO-Flagship Enterprise Center, Beth Tharp-CEO-Community Hospital and Tom VanOsdol, CEO-St.Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital among its thousand plus graduates, all of whom go through a selection process to participate in the unique venture.
LAMC's key growth occurred under Snyder's leadership. In addition to evolving the sessions away from lectures to focus on experiential learning and small group dialogues, Snyder has grown LAMC to focus on building the skills of visioning, collaboration and consensus building within the participants. In addition, she led the initiative to develop the popular Youth Leadership Academy, which teaches high school students how to grow into leaders and connect with the community.
“People walk out of LAMC feeling as if they've been changed. I know I did,” said Leadership Academy of Madison County board chair, Quang Vinh. “I was involved in the community prior to attending LAMC in 2008, but the commitment of what I could contribute to this community became clearer and stronger afterward. And that is the vision Bobbette has for all the participants throughout the program.”
In appreciation of Snyder's service to the community, the board of directors is beginning an endowment in her name to ensure the LAMC's important work continues for generations. The endowment will be formally introduced at a community recognition event for Snyder, set for June 25th from 6PM until 8PM at Anderson Country club.
Board Chair, Quang Vinh says, “The board of directors is creating the Bobbette Snyder Fund for the Leadership Academy of Madison County at the Madison County Community Foundation. The executive committee of the LAMC board of directors expects to announce Snyder's replacement in the near future.
