Fort Wayne is set to welcome more than 60,000 shoppers this week for the 2014 Vera Bradley Inc. (Nasdaq: VRA) Outlet Sale. Visit Fort Wayne Chief Executive Officer Dan O'Connell estimates the annual event will have an economic impact of up to $7 million and fill more than 5,000 hotel nights. O'Connell says many women like to turn the event into a “girlfriends weekend out,” so businesses including chocolate stores, shopping malls and spas often benefit.

The company also expects the event to raise $40,000 for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

The sale runs Wednesday, April 9 – Friday, April 11 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
