Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority Executive Director Jeff Jackson has resigned for personal reasons. The organization says its board of directors will meet to discuss the next steps. CIRTA says Jackson will move to Idaho to spend more time with his family. The Indiana University graduate has helped fund, build and manage three city transportation systems in Florida. He has also served as chief operating officer of American Heritage Railways.

Indiana lawmakers approved a bill calling for mass transit referenda in six central Indiana counties. Governor Mike Pence signed the measure into law, saying economic development and quality of life decisions are “best made on the local level.” CIRTA says its next director will need to facilitate “county-by-county” work before those votes.
