Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is moving forward on its plan to build a wellness center for employees. Demolition has begun on a site that will house the LiveWell Center. The company hopes to open the Bartholomew County facility in 2016.

Information from Cummins Inc. on the LiveWell Center project

Once the LiveWell Center opens, the Cummins Occupational Health Center will focus exclusively on providing occupational health services for employees.

The Cummins LiveWell Center is an element of Cummins' health and wellbeing vision which is to make health and wellbeing part of everything we do. The Center will provide Cummins employees and their families the highest quality health care, delivered in a manner that is entirely focused on the patient. The center will put high-quality health care first and foremost, with a particular focus on improving health and wellness outcomes through total lifestyle care. The center will offer a full array of primary care services along with some specialty care services for Cummins employees and their families (including children above the age of two). Examples of services likely to be offered include physical exams of all kinds, urgent care, minor procedures, X-ray and diagnostics, optometry, health and lifestyle coaching and physical medicine.

This investment by Cummins is part of a long-term strategy to provide outstanding health and wellbeing services to help employees live healthier and fuller lives at home, work and in their communities. Cummins has benchmarked best practices with leading firms and partnered with top health care companies to develop this initiative, which we believe will be a game-changing approach to providing health care and promoting wellbeing.

We are designing a center that will offer health care in a new way, with everything focused on the patient. That includes everything from wait times, to the design of the center, to how you communicate with your health care team. The focus will not only be on helping employees and families get well, but also to help our employees stay well and experience a higher level of wellbeing. While employees and their families will not be required to utilize the services at this time, we are designing a center that we believe employees will want to come to improve their health and wellbeing.

Some of the services available at the center include:

• Primary care including physical exams of all kinds and condition management (high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, etc.)

• Limited specialty care in areas such as cardiology, endocrinology, rheumatology and allergy

• Urgent care (infections, cuts and bruises)

• Minor procedures and diagnostics (radiology/X-rays and laboratory services)

• Optometry exams and prescriptions

• Health and Lifestyle Coaching/Classes and Seminars

• Physical Medicine Services such as chiropractic, massage and physical therapy
