The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art says it will open gallery space at The Alexander hotel in the CityWay neighborhood. The free exhibition is scheduled to open in September.

March 31, 2014

News release

Indianapolis, Ind. — In partnership with CityWay and The Alexander hotel, the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA) will add 3,000 square feet of exhibition space at CityWay in September 2014.

“For both iMOCA and The Alexander,” said Shauta Marsh, iMOCA's executive director, “the quality of art we exhibit is paramount. This partnership leverages both organizations' commitment to Indianapolis' thriving cultural community and will offer rotating works of art by renowned artists of all mediums.”

Currently under construction in The Alexander's south plaza lobby, the new gallery will provide a stunning art experience for visitors and continue iMOCA's increasing role in city life, with more free-to-the-public museum space and expanded education programs for students and children.

“CityWay inspires a new kind of city lifestyle, with a world-class business hotel – The Alexander, modern apartments, and restaurants. CityWay is committed to supporting a vibrant arts community through the iMOCA partnership,” said Scott Travis, senior vice president of Buckingham Companies.

The new museum space faces The Alexander's plaza along South Street and will give iMOCA a total of 5,500 square feet of exhibition space at its two locations. iMOCA and CityWay will encourage residents and visitors alike to bike and walk The Indianapolis Cultural Trail, that connects the two gallery locations located less than one mile apart.

iMOCA at CityWay is tentatively scheduled to open in September of this year.
