Two companies are seeking tax abatement on expansion plans. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission is set for preliminary votes Wednesday on proposals from ConAgra Foods Inc. (NYSE: CAG) and Carmel-based Heartland Food Products Group involving approximately 200 new jobs. Heartland is looking to invest more than $20 million in equipment and building improvements and add 151 jobs by 2017. ConAgra Foods, which took over an Indianapolis facility in 2013, hopes to have the prior plant owner's tax incentives transferred. ConAgra has agreed to meet the prior owner's job creation numbers, which would increase the facility's work force from 540 to 599.

The proposals are up for an initial vote Wednesday. If approved, the ConAgra proposal would go to a final vote April 16th. The Heartland Food Products Group would also need Indianapolis City-County Council approval.
