Inside INdiana Business first reported the plan to bring the operation to Tippecanoe County. In a public meeting yesterday, Indiana Economic Development Corp. Board Member Robert Taylor highlighted a project that would involve approximately 200 jobs and a $92 million investment. He also stated the average salary will be around $75,000.
The plant will produce LEAP engines, which are designed to power next-generation commercial aircraft.
Nearby Purdue University and GE have a relationship dating back to the early 20th Century.
During the recent National Governors Association Winter Meeting, General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) Chief Executive Officer Jeff Immelt said the company has a desire to connect with universities.
