Lakeshore Public Media will launch its weekly Lakeshore Report news program Friday. Chief Executive Officer James Muhammad announced in January “significant reductions in revenue” contributed to the discontinuation of its daily production, Lakeshore News Tonight. Lakeshore Public Media is a newsgathering partner of Inside INdiana Business.

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. – Lakeshore Public Media is proud to announce a new local news program, Lakeshore Report, which will air Fridays at 7pm, beginning March 21. Lakeshore Report is a weekly, half hour program that will focus on news, events, arts and culture in Northwest Indiana.

“Lakeshore Report is a great opportunity to take a more in depth look at the issues facing the region,” commented Assignment Editor of Lakeshore Public Media, Sarah Holst. From education to environment, politics to policy, Lakeshore Report will give viewers the information they need to understand what is happening in the local community and why.

Each program will consist of news that will bring diverse voices and unique insights, which will provide viewers with information needed to shape their minds on the issues they face every week. The program will also include information about events and community activities that happen in the area.

“I am very excited for this new initiative as it is a collaborative project with television and radio. It is a strong move in truly being a multi media program,” said James A. Muhammad, President and CEO of Lakeshore Public Media. As examples of this teamwork you will see radio personality, Steve Walsh doing exclusive television interviews with some of the most influential leaders in the region for Lakeshore Report and Lakeshore Public Media journalist Hilary Powell will be crossing over into radio to do more in depth reporting with local coverage. Lakeshore Report anchor, Kristyn Estes will feature the top news of the week as Holst will cover feature pieces on an array of topics.

So tune in to Lakeshore Public Television on Friday, March 21 at 7pm for the start of what promises to be a staple of our local programming, Lakeshore Report.
