Warsaw-based Biomet Inc. has announced plans to expand its Kosciusko County operations and add 150 jobs. The company is seeking tax abatement on the proposal that includes building renovations and new equipment.

News Release

Warsaw, Ind. — Global Vice President of Finance for Biomet, Richard Fradette, appeared before the County Council Thursday night seeking a tax abatement on a potential expansion in Kosciusko County. The expansion is contingent on approval of incentives by state and local officials. The proposed expansion involves several operations including additional development of the Company's Global Center of Excellence in the areas of enhanced business processes, worldwide procurement, made-to-order manufacturing and distribution of implant instruments.

The capital project will involve building renovations and state-of-the art manufacturing equipment including innovative 3D printing and optical scanning technologies. “We are excited about this expansion of one of our County’s major orthopedic companies,” stated KEDCo President George Robertson at the County Council meeting. “We see this as another continued enhancement of the 'Orthopedic Capital of the World' in Kosciusko County.” The Council unanimously moved the project approval to the next step and a hearing in April. The Company estimates that this project will increase employment in the county by 150 new jobs.
