Construction is underway on a $1.3 million library project in northeast Indiana. The expansion to the Waterloo-Grant Township Public Library will include a new entrance and larger teen area. The project is scheduled to be complete this fall.

Waterloo, Ind. — The latest library project designed by MKM architecture + design (MKM) at the Waterloo-Grant Township Public Library has begun construction.

Located in downtown Waterloo, Indiana, the library will receive a 3,900 square foot addition and complete renovation of the existing facility. Charged with exploring how this historic Carnegie structure could be designed to meet the needs of a modern library, MKM performed an extensive analysis of the existing building and facilitated various discussions with community stakeholders in an effort to develop the most appropriate vision for both the library and the community members it serves. The expanded space includes a relocated Children's Department, a new public entrance, enlarged Teen area, and community room. For more on the library see www.waterloo.lib.in.us.

The $1,375,000 project will be constructed by Hamilton Hunter Builders, Inc. and anticipates a Fall 2014 completion.
