The Residences at Washington Street has opened in downtown Kokomo’s northwest side. The four-story community features 54 apartment homes in a luxury setting at an affordable price.
During the construction phase, the neighborhood around the housing community had attracted new residents, businesses and investors looking to capitalize on the area’s vibrant transformation.
The $9 million housing development is located near shops, public transportation and several new developments. The Residences at Washington Street is adjacent to the Depot District which will soon see several more retail shops, restaurants and artistic amenities open. The city’s Industrial Heritage Trail runs directly past the housing community.
The development turned a city block of vacant, dilapidated buildings into a revitalized neighborhood and set the stage for future developments.
“The Residences at Washington Street sparked the restoration of a historic and long vacant area into an attractive neighborhood where buildings are being restored and new businesses are set to open,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight.
The Residences at Washington Street feature one and two bedroom apartments, off-street parking, 24-hour fitness center, theater room and community room with dining area.
