South Bend, Ind. — Indiana's annual state hospitality and tourism conference is being held in South Bend for the first time March 10-12 at the Notre Dame Conference Center and newly renovated Morris Inn, which is the only AAA Four Diamond hotel in the state north of Indianapolis.
An estimated 275 registrants representing the Association of Indiana CVBs (AICVB), the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association (IRLA), the Indiana Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (IMPI) and the Indiana Office of Tourism Development (IOTD) are expected to attend.
“By hosting the state tourism conference for the first time in our community, we get to take ownership of the term 'Hoosier Hospitality' for a few days,” says Rob DeCleene, executive director of Visit South Bend Mishawaka. “We're thrilled at the opportunity to host our colleagues and it's notable that the conference is being held in the middle of one of the state's most visited tourist attractions – the University of Notre Dame campus.”
Notable speakers at the conference will include Jack Swarbrick, vice president and director of Athletics at the University of Notre Dame; Mark Newman, director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development; Allison Melangton, president of Indiana Sports Corporation and former CEO and president of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.
“Words can't express how excited and honored we are to welcome our tourism industry colleagues to South Bend, many for the first time,” says Carolyne Wallace, director of sales for Visit South Bend Mishawaka. “The Hoosier Hospitality Conference is an awesome opportunity to showcase our community's tourism, hospitality and meeting assets and share with our guests the very best we have to offer.”
