Indianapolis-based DoubleMap has acquired an on-demand transportation software system developed by a Florida company. DoubleMap says the deal for TapRide should make it a leader in mapping software for universities, municipalities and corporate fleets. March 10, 2014

News Release

Indianapolis-‐based transportation software company, today announced it has acquired TapRide, an on-‐demand, ride hailing and dispatching system developed by Florida-‐Based software technology company.

This acquisition will enable DoubleMap to provide a single solution for real-‐time mobile mapping, ride hailing and vehicle tracking for public transportation and any organization which moves passengers.

“By building a new way for people to hail rides through their smartphones, and by using technology to alleviate dispatchers of their day-‐to-‐day responsibilities, TapRide has created an indispensable service for both end-‐users and organizations alike,” said Peter SerVaas, President of DoubleMap

“Through this acquisition, DoubleMap will effectively eliminate the need for dispatchers in on-‐demand shuttle operations.

This functionality, coupled with DoubleMap’s core features, will now offer all the services a university, city or company needs to safely and efficiently manage their entire transportation system as well as provide the best possible services for the people that rely on these systems.”

TapRide’s Founder and CEO, Jordan Johnson will remain involved in an advisory role throughout the transition and integration with DoubleMap.

“We were very excited that DoubleMap saw the potential in TapRide and I believe they have the skills and resources to take our technology global.

It’s an incredible source of pride for our company to be involved with such an innovative and fast-‐growing organization,” said Johnson. DoubleMap began exploring ride-‐hailing technologies following an increased demand from their current clients for these services.

“DoubleMap’s turn-‐key solution changed the way many of our clients think about technology, so we were frequently asked if our software could be expanded to additional parts of their organizations” said Ilya Rekhter, CEO of DoubleMap.

“We needed to offer those services fast, so we looked to acquisition as a real possibility, and TapRide was clearly the best option.”
