FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Office of Advancement at Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) is making progress and focusing on fundraising to support campus and faculty endeavors.
Wendy Kobler was appointed vice chancellor for advancement following the December retirement of Linda Ruffolo, executive director of development. Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Kobler, the office has brought back into alignment three units with primary responsibility for marketing IPFW and focused work with alumni, donors, potential donors, and high-profile events: Development, Alumni Relations, and University Relations and Communications (URC).
Kobler has taken a number of steps to structure the Office of Advancement and align its functions according to industry best practices and the International Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) standards. “Given the budget challenges that IPFW continues to face, a focus on acquiring resources to support the university's priorities and primary mission of educating and serving students must be our leading concern,” said Kobler.
Kobler has also announced that effective June 30, 2014, Irene Walters, executive director of university relations and communications, will be retiring.
“I have been extraordinarily blessed to have my two passions merge in serving the university along with the community of northeast Indiana,” said Walters. “I look forward to continuing to volunteer my time and talents to serve the organization in any way possible.”
For the past 19 years Walters' success at work has given birth to projects and events such as Mastodons on Parade, Tapestry, Sculpture with Purpose, Remnant Trust, Omnibus, and many more.
Kobler applauds the efforts of Walters: “Irene has made it clear that she intends to continue utilizing her talents on behalf of IPFW and I look forward to her support and counsel in the months and years ahead.”
