Plainfield, Ind. — Duke Energy has named Marvin Blade vice president of Community Relations and Economic Development for Indiana.

He replaces Bart Beal, who is retiring.

Blade has more than 25 years of experience with Duke Energy in customer service, account management, economic development and community relations. He most recently was a government and community relations manager for the company's Ohio/Kentucky business unit.

Blade began his career in Indiana and grew up in Terre Haute. He started working with the company in 1988 in residential sales. He eventually became a district manager, serving as a community liaison for the company.

“Marvin has years of experience working with cities and towns to help them succeed,” said Duke Energy Indiana President Doug Esamann. “He will lead the company's statewide team of community and government relations managers.”

Blade has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana State University and a master's degree in marketing from University of Phoenix. He currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, and will be moving to Indiana.

Duke Energy Indiana's operations provide approximately 7,500 megawatts of owned electric capacity to approximately 790,000 customers, making it the state's largest electric supplier.
