Indianapolis-based Flat 12 Bierwerks LLC has announced plans to open a brewing facility and tap room in Jeffersonville. Chief Executive Officer Sean O'Connor says the move has the potential to double output. He says the location on the Ohio River also gives the brewer better access to the Louisville and Nashville markets. O'Connor says Flat 12 currently produces up to 40,000 barrels per year at its facility in Indianapolis. He believes the slightly larger space in Jeffersonville could produce at least that much. He says the size will also allow for a tasting room at the new facility.
The company is currently working with brewing equipment companies to outfit the operation. It hopes to open the Jeffersonville facility by early summer.
O'Connor says the craft beer industry's ceiling is “very high” in Indiana. He believes Indiana has “a long way to go” before the market is saturated.
