Indiana University Health Starke Hospital has named a new president. Craig Felty had been serving as interim administrator of the facility in Knox. He has more than 25 years' experience in the health care sector, which includes stops at several operations in Illinois. March 3, 2014

KNOX, Ind. – Indiana University Health Starke Hospital named Craig Felty the new President of the organization.

An experienced and dedicated member of the Starke County healthcare community, Felty was previously named Interim Administrator after former Executive Linda Satkoski retired this past December. Prior, Felty served as Executive Director of Patient Care Services of IU Health Starke Hospital since January 2011.

Felty brings more than 25 years of patient care and healthcare management experience to the position. He has worked as Patient Care Manager of the Mitchell Emergency Department at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Critical Care Transport Nurse for an ambulance service in Illinois and Director of Emergency Services for Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill.

Previously, he served as the Assistant Chief Flight Nurse for University of Chicago Hospitals and Manager of Aeromedical Services for Loyola University Medical Center. He has immediate experience in neonatal and pediatric transport, as a trauma nurse in the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center Emergency Department, legal nurse consulting and volunteer firefighting.

Felty has been trained in homeland security, pediatric education, neonatal resuscitation, advanced burn life support and emergency medical services. He is board certified through the Emergency Nurses Association, and holds numerous certifications for clinical instruction as an educator in his field for other healthcare providers within the region.

He holds a Master of Business Administration with a healthcare focus at Western Governors University. He also received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University Calumet.

Felty lives in rural Northwest Indiana with his wife, Tricia, and children: Joshua, Zachary, Jenna, Seth and Jeremieh.
