House OKs Common Core Bill
A bill to void Common Core academic standards has been approved by the Indiana House. The legislation would replace the guidelines with state-created standards. The amended measure moves back to the Senate. Last week, the Indiana Department of Education and State Board of Education unveiled a draft proposal of new standards.
Indiana Chamber Vice President of Education and Workforce Development Policy Derek Redelman calls the proposal “a reasonable outcome,” but says the organization is still concerned with some areas of focus.
