Votes Could Come on Key MeasuresPosted: Updated:
Several key issues remain unresolved at this stage of the Indiana legislative session. The Senate could vote today on legislation calling for further study of pre-kindergarten and a bill involving alcohol sales at the Indiana State Fair is slated to be voted on by the full House. The House Ways and Means Committee is also scheduled to examine a Senate-proposed phase-out of the business personal property tax.
Monday, Senator John Broden (D-10) failed an attempt to amend the "pre-k" study bill. The changes were designed to restore a previously-proposed early childhood education pilot program.
The Senate is also slated to hear measures regarding a Major Moves trust fund, a commission that would review economic development tax incentives and a study of career and technical education programs.
