The House Ways and Means Committee is slated to hear a Senate proposal involving the business personal property tax and the full House is expected to debate a bill that would allow for alcohol sales at the Indiana State Fair. Governor Mike Pence has pushed the concept of phasing out the business personal property tax as a way of drawing more investment in the state. The House also has a proposal regarding the tax.
State Fair officials believe alcohol sales, which have been banned since 1947, could provide an initial revenue stream of $200,000.
Measures involving economic development incentives, a career and technical education program and the Major Moves Trust fund will also go before the full Senate.
