Committee OKs Boost For Soccer Stadium

Subscribe NowThe Indiana House Ways and Means Committee has approved an amended version of a bill to allow for the Capital Improvement Board in Indianapolis to use up to $2 million to support a new soccer stadium. The $87 million venue is being proposed by Indy Eleven Professional Soccer Owner Ersal Ozdemir. If approved by both chambers of the General Assembly, it would be used by the team and for other purposes including concerts and NCAA events.
The amendment is included in Senate Bill 308, which now heads to the full house, and was initially designed to deal with Allen County sports and convention development areas.

Indy Eleven Owner Ersal Ozdemir Statement Regarding Amendment to Indiana Senate Bill SB 308
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The following is a statement from Indy Eleven Owner Ersal Ozdemir regarding this afternoon's vote by the Indiana House Ways and Means Committee to amend Indiana Senate Bill SB 308:

Indy Eleven will kick off its inaugural season in the North American Soccer League (NASL) on April 12, 2014, against the Carolina RailHawks and will play its home contests at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis. Born Indy Pro Soccer after launching as the 11th member of the North American Soccer League on January 16, 2013, Indy Eleven established its identity 99 days later on the 152nd anniversary of the establishment of the 11th Indiana Regiment during the Civil War on April 25, 1861.
