Freeman-Wilson Schedules State of The City

The mayor of Gary has set the date for her third State of the City Address. Karen Freeman-Wilson will deliver the presentation Wednesday at the Genesis Convention Center. February 13, 2014

GARY, Ind. - Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson can expect to deliver her third State of the City Address to a capacity crowd Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Genesis Convention Center at 11:30a.m. (CT). Officials confirmed today that only a few seats remain and that the address would be streamed live online.

"There are many Gary natives who live all over the country who want to stay informed about their hometown," said Chelsea Whittington, Director of Communications. "Our public access channel and IT departments have been working together to ensure that the address will be streamed live for all the world to see."

Freeman-Wilson plans to share a recap of 2013 accomplishments and challenges while laying out goals for 2014. There are three ways to stream the address:

Viewers may visit www.garycommoncouncil.org and click on the legislative media link on the right side of the page. Streamers may also go to www.ustream.tv and type in "wjpn" in the search box. Lastly, may visit the following link: www.ustream.tv/search?q=wjpn. The address will also be broadcast on Gary’s public access channel later Wednesday afternoon.

The event's title sponsor is Majestic Star Casino along with a host of local supporting sponsors who will be acknowledged during the program. Their contributions allow for groups of Gary youth and senior citizens to attend the State of the City address.
