SPOILER ALERT: Hoosier Wins Olympic MedalPosted: Updated:
A skier from Indiana has won a bronze medal in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Nick Goepper, a Lawrenceburg native, was part of a Team USA sweep of the podium in the slopestyle skiing event. Our partners WTHR-TV in Indianapolis recently profiled Goepper, who came into the games as the top-ranked athlete in his sport. In January, he qualified for Team USA.
He is only 15 years-old and took home a gold medal at this year's X-Games in Aspen, Colorado.
Goepper grew up learning to ski at Perfect North Slopes in Lawrenceburg.
During the slopestyle finals that took place overnight in Sochi, Goepper and two other Americans, Joss Christensen and Gus Kenworthy, won medals.
