Indianapolis-based Harlan Laboratories Inc. is taking a step to expand its presence in the Asia region. The company has hired Urvashi Gupta to help lead the effort. Febuary 4, 2014

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Harlan Laboratories, a leading contract research organization and research models and services company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Urvashi Gupta as Director of Business Development for its Research Models and Services (RMS) business unit in Asia.

Gupta will focus on expanding Harlan's market position and growth by fostering new business initiatives, driving key strategic partnerships and leading corporate development efforts. She will also oversee a team of business development managers in Japan and Korea, and will have responsibility for agents in China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Australia.

“As the preclinical research market continues to establish roots and grow outside of North America and Europe, now is the perfect time to expand our already talented business development group,” said Stuart Frith, Global Vice President of Business Development at Harlan Laboratories. “We're excited to add Urvashi to our team, and her wealth of international experience in the CRO and pharmaceutical industries will be an asset to Harlan as we continue to expand in Asia.”

Gupta joins Harlan with 13 years of experience in research, operations, client relations and sales throughout Asia, Europe and the United States. Most recently, she served as Business Development Manager for Covance. In this role, Gupta was responsible for all sales initiatives in India with a focus on expanding the company's presence throughout the region. Prior to her roles in business development, Gupta worked as an operations manager and research scientist with Covance.

Gupta received her Master of Science in Health Care Technologies Management from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI-USA, and also has a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Nagpur University in Nagpur, India. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Shri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science in Indore, India.
