Customers Come to Restaurant’s Rescue

Subscribe NowAn Indianapolis couple who run a popular Cajun restaurant says they plan to reopen after raising enough money through an online crowdfunding campaign. Colleen and Art Bouvier were seeking donations to pay off a tax obligation that forced the state to close their eatery, Papa Roux, last week. The Bouviers say the Indiana Department of Revenue had worked out a payment plan with them on a debt incurred in 2012. The couple says on Thursday, they were ordered to close until the approximately $30,000 obligation was paid in full.
Art started a fundraising campaign that included using the website GoFundMe. Through the site and other donations, Colleen says they can pay the full amount owed to the department.
The couple has also pledged to donate $30,000 to Indianapolis-based social services charity Pour House Inc. over time to “give back” the support the received from the community.
They say some money that will go toward the charity is still needed for the campaign to put them at the $30,000 mark on the website and allow them to use the funds.
