COLUMBUS, Ind. (January 27, 2014) – Green BEAN Delivery, an online home delivery service that provides organic produce and natural groceries to its members, announces today that it is expanding to serve Columbus, Ind. As part of its expansion, the company is partnering with Columbus-based Cummins Inc., a corporation with more than 46,000 employees who design, manufacture, distribute and service diesel and natural gas engines and related technologies.
Through its new corporate health and wellness program, Green BEAN Delivery is working directly with Cummins to help employees eat healthier. The new service encourages a community-based approach to health and wellness in the workplace. Green BEAN Delivery provides the following free tools to aid employees in realizing their healthy eating goals:
• Hosted Q&A sessions to introduce staff to the service
• Recipes, tips and resources that enable lasting diet changes
• Access to a nutritionist for advice and programming
• Reporting to track participation in the program
“We are excited to bring the Midwest’s most extensive network of sustainable farmers and artisans to Columbus residents,” said Matt Ewer, president and co-founder of Green BEAN Delivery. “Home delivery services take critical mass to be successful, and they usually run in major metropolitan markets. The support of Cummins and our recent success in smaller markets has given us the confidence to open our virtual doors to the Columbus community.”
Green BEAN Delivery is the latest option offered to Cummins employees, helping them and their families to improve their health and make them aware of the impact of nutrition on the long-term quality of life and future health care costs.
“Creating new health and wellness initiatives provides numerous benefits to our employees,” said Dexter Shurney, MD, chief medical director of Cummins. “We continue to invest in strategies that will help our employees live happily and healthily. We’re eager to encourage home delivery of fresh produce through Green BEAN Delivery.”
Husband and wife team Matt Ewer and Elizabeth Blessing founded Green BEAN Delivery in 2007 to make organic produce and natural groceries convenient, affordable and accessible to Midwest communities. The company is the Midwest’s most extensive network of farmers and artisans with organic and sustainable practices.
