A section of I-94 near Michigan City remains closed following a massive crash involving more than 40 vehicles. Indiana State Police say at least three people died and more than 20 were injured. Our partners at Fox 28 in South Bend report the area was experiencing "extreme whiteout conditions" at the time of the accident. The investigation is expected to take at least a couple weeks.

Authorities say I-94 could re-open Friday.

Fox 28 reports the LaPorte County coroner says a Grand Rapids, Michigan area couple in their 60s and a 66-year old Chicago man were killed.
