A proposed constitutional amendment to further define marriage is set to go before an Indiana House committee today. Tuesday, House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-88) re-assigned the legislation to the elections committee from the judiciary committee. The move comes as Indianapolis-based Dow AgroSciences reiterates its opposition to the proposal, saying it would “harm Indiana's world-class life sciences industry.” Our partners at WTHR report the committee could vote on the bill this afternoon. The elections committee is chaired by Representative Milo Smith (R-59).

A vote by the elections committee was postponed last week.

Statement From DowAgrosciences LLC

“Dow AgroSciences opposes HJR-3. We believe it will hinder efforts to recruit both U.S.-based and global talent to our growing Indiana operations. In addition, we believe it will harm Indiana’s world-class life sciences industry when it is best positioned to drive additional economic value to the state.”
