A work force event, being billed as the largest of its kind in the Midwest, is set for next month in Indianapolis. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce says the 2014 Indiana Health and Safety Conference & Expo will feature dozens of informational sessions and more than 100 exhibitors. January 17, 2014

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2014 Indiana Health and Safety Conference & Expo offers a wealth of safety and health information for Hoosier workplaces. The February 18-20 event – the largest of its kind in the Midwest – will feature more than 60 education sessions and 100-plus exhibitor booths.

The conference takes place at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis and is presented by the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce in partnership with INSafe/Indiana Department of Labor.

“We've ramped up our pre-conference workshops to apply to all employee levels,” explains Kerri Begley, Indiana Chamber vice president of conferences and special events. “Safety training isn't just for safety professionals – it's important for everyone to learn valuable skills they can take back to the workplace.”

The three-day event will focus on a variety of workplace safety and health issues, including: worker's compensation; ergonomics; safety fundamentals; construction safety; and occupational health and wellness.

New this year is an education track – management safety principles and solutions – designed for company presidents, CEOs and other executive leaders.

Begley emphasizes, “When you get buy-in from the top on the importance of safety, that support trickles down.”

Other highlights include an enhanced human resources education track and new workshops revolving around safety career advancement and the use of digital technology in safety programs.

In addition, keynote speakers Garrison Wynn of Wynn Solutions and Edwin G. Foulke Jr. (former head of OSHA) with Fisher & Phillips LLP will provide insightful presentations on February 19 and February 20, respectively. The Governor's Workplace Safety Awards Luncheon on February 20 will honor Hoosier organizations that have made safety and health a top priority.

Cost for the three-day conference and expo is $448; other registration options are offered. Additionally, Indiana Chamber member and group discounts are available. For more information or to register, go to www.insafetyconf.com or call (317) 264-6885.
