A well-known travel site lists Richmond as one of “America's Best Main Streets.” Fodor's cites the Wayne County city's cultural attractions and “quaint Victorian architecture.” The article also mentions the area's farm homes, red brick houses and an old-fashioned eatery called Main Street Diner.

Richmond was named one of Indiana's Stellar Communities in 2013.

Other “Main Streets” on the Fodor's list include Charleston, South Carolina, Saratoga Springs, New York and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
