News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Fine Arts Society of Indianapolis, a 45-year old non-profit producer of syndicated classical music radio programming, announced today it has changed its name to Classical Music Indy.

The new name was chosen to better reflect its primary programs and activities – producing syndicated classical music programs for broadcast on radio stations and promoting area classical music-making. The name Classical Music Indy is the result of a new three-year strategic plan adopted by the board in June, 2013, along with a new marketing plan, adopted in October, 2013. Both documents reflect the organization's commitment to serving the community and the hope of more accurately reflecting the organization’s mission to the public.

Integral to Classical Music Indy's strategic plan is to be a more visible and active partner with local performing arts groups, beyond those groups' underwriting spots embedded in the organization's radio programs. Strategies to accomplish that include increased use of social media, a more regular concert presence, and exploring larger and mutually beneficial partnerships with area classical music organizations.

Classical Music Indy is an independent, non-profit producer of syndicated classical music radio programming heard locally on WICR – FM/HD 88.7. Since 1969, Classical Music Indy’s programming has been made possible through the generous support of individuals, foundations, government entities, and corporate and non-profit underwriters. Classical Music Indy is your choice for classical music on-air and online. Playlists, memberships, and more at classicalmusicindy.org.
