Big Sports Weekend in Fort Wayne
Five sporting events this weekend are expected to generate more than $1.6 million for the Fort Wayne economy. Visit Fort Wayne says one of the tournaments, the 2014 Fort Wayne MLK Volleyball Challenge, could attract more than 8,000 participants. News Release(Fort Wayne, Ind.) – For the second straight year, Fort Wayne will serve as a sporting events hotbed during the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
From January 17-19, over 13,500 sports participants will compete in five different events at five Fort Wayne venues, including the 2014 Fort Wayne MLK Volleyball Challenge at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The volleyball event alone will bring in more than 8,000 participants.
The multitude of competitors will provide a nice boost to Fort Wayne’s local economy – generating an estimated $1.6 million dollars in economic impact. The five different sporting events happening in Fort Wayne are listed below.
