Gary Set For ‘Unprecedented’ Announcement

Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report Karen Freeman-Wilson says White House officials will detail a “top-secret designation.” She made the remarks yesterday during an address to the Gary Chamber of Commerce. It was the first meeting of the new year for the organization.
Freeman-Wilson says outlined challenges the city faces in drawing new business to the area including the high murder rate, falling home values and a need to boost the tax base.
She says Thursday's announcement will involve the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
