Evansville is moving forward with a plan to attract a major Indiana University academic medical research campus. The Courier & Press reports the city will partner with developer U.S. HealthRealty/Skanska to put together a proposal to locate the project downtown. The Indiana University Board of Trustees will likely choose the final location in April. Construction could get underway in 2015. The school hopes to begin operations at the campus in July 2017. Other sites in Vanderburgh and Warrick counties are also being considered.

The project will involve other institutions including Ivy Tech Community College, the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana.

You can view the full timeline for the project from the IU Office of the Vice President for Capital Planning and Facilities by clicking here.

Skanska USA, which is part of the developer partnership, acquired Evansville-based Industrial Contractors Inc. in 2011.
