Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report Tom Collins has decided to resign after finding it difficult to devote enough time to both positions. Governor Mike Pence appointed Collins to the airport authority post four months ago.
The resignation takes effect January 26 and the newspaper reports Pence plans to have a replacement named by that point.
The authority is expected to hold a final vote on a privatization deal with a Virginia company January 27.
The Times reports Collins was the only member of the authority who opposed the 40-year proposal with Aviation Facilities Co. Inc. during a preliminary vote last month.
He remains concerned about how quickly the deal is moving forward, but he says the airport needs to seriously consider public-private partnership opportunities.Source: The Times of Northwest Indiana
