An Indianapolis-based company is being honored by one of the world's largest manufacturers for hybrid transmission technology. Magnetic Instrumentation Inc. has received the 2013 Henry Ford Technology Award from the Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F). January 2, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Magnetic Instrumentation, Inc. (MI), a leading global supplier of magnetic processing systems and magnetic test equipment/services today announced that it has received the 2013 Ford Motor Company’s Henry Ford Technology Award (HFTA) for the design, development and implementation of a Rotor Magnetizing process for Hybrid Transmissions. Ford’s Michigan-based Global Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (GPME) team along with Todd McMullen, President of Magnetic Instrumentation, Inc. were honored with the prestigious award during a recent ceremony in Dearborn, Michigan. This award is Ford Motor Company’s highest technical honor and recognizes ground breaking technologies in the automotive industry.

Over a two-year period, Magnetic Instrumentation, Inc. worked with the Ford GPME team to

develop and implement the paten-pending magnetizing and magnetic measurement technology for permanent magnet hybrid transmissions. The methodology has quickly become the standard for complex powertrain magnetic processing systems within Ford Motor Company.
