The Indiana Arts Commission has approved several grants for Hoosier schools and teachers. The Arts In Education initiative involves classroom projects planned for 2014. December 18, 2013

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today the approval of seven grant allocations from its Arts In Education grant program.

During the December 13th Quarterly Business Meeting in Indianapolis, the Commission approval was given to funding in-classroom projects by the following schools or teaching artists:

Greater Clark County Schools, Jeffersonville, IN

Carmel High School, Carmel, IN

Fort Wayne Community Schools, Fort Wayne, IN

Northern Wells Community Schools, Ossian, IN

West Newton Elementary School, West Newton, IN

Cathy Morris, Indianapolis, IN

Guy M. Hardy, Bloomington, IN

This is the second year teaching artists were also eligible to submit project proposals for the grant program.

All funded projects must take place between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.

Schools and teaching artists could request up to $3,000, and all grants require dollar for dollar match with school funds, contributed funds, in-kind donations, or services. Funding may not replace or supplant existing resources. Project activities must take place during the scheduled school day and may not fund after-school or summer activities.

The Arts In Education program is funded by revenue generated from Indiana's Celebrate the Arts special issue license plate. Each purchase or renewal of the license plate results in a $25 donation to the Indiana Cultural Trust Fund. Plate revenue is invested by the state, and interest income is drawn annually for the Arts In Education grants.

The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, everyday, for everyone in Indiana.
